Everything along the jade rail is the simulator’s log, kept in the author’s own 【】 brackets. The “you” in it is not Fang Yuan: it is his simulated self, living out a run he will only read about. Chapters 121–124 never leave the log. In Chapter 125 the run ends, and the story steps out into Fang Yuan’s own world.

Idioms keep their original pictures. Every dotted phrase is already explained in the margin beside it (or just beneath the line on a narrow screen), with characters, pinyin, and what the image means, so there’s nothing to tap. Jade dots mark people and places. A bead slides down the rail to the line you’re on, and its notes brighten as you reach them.

模拟评论区, a simulated comment section. A small crowd of readers reads along with you: the Shrek Archivist who knows every canon book, the Heir-Eating Researcher who starts fights, the Keeper of the Blue Silver who fights back, two cultured MTL readers, a Foreshadowing Harvester, and 听雨眠, who brings a song for the moment. The author drops in too. They turn up as you reach their line. ♡ what lands, 回复 to answer them, and write your own 本章说 at a chapter’s end. Everything you add is kept and synced.
Each chapter is a soul ring. The ring around 目 ages as you read, from ten-year white through yellow, purple, black and red, and when you finish the chapter you absorb it. Later chapters hold older rings. The thin spine on the right edge maps the whole chapter: jade for the log, amber for the real world, ticks where readers gathered, ♪ where someone left a song. Drag it to travel.
When a line moves you, long-press it (or hover and tap 心 in the margin) to press a seal beside it, or to leave a 段评 note. In any word card, tap 藏 to keep the word in your 生词本. Passages and words both wait for you in your 摘抄本. Keys 1–6 stamp the paragraph under your cursor.
This translation stays close to the Chinese on purpose. It doesn’t swap in English sayings: 狼狈 keeps its wolf and its bèi, the heir still inherits a robe and a bowl, and a soul still comes by the wisp. Measure words and “a few parts of” feeling are kept too, and qiyun stays qiyun.
The author’s typos stay in the Chinese and are quietly corrected in the English. Where one actually changes the meaning, you’ll find a small 注 note.
